Course Description:
Financial Literacy is a free, 8-week-long introductory course designed to give middle school students a strong foundation in managing money and making smart financial decisions. Through interactive sessions led by high school students, participants will explore the fundamentals of saving, spending, budgeting, and understanding the value of money. As they journey through the fascinating world of personal finance, students will also develop essential soft and hard skills, helping them to “bloom” both personally and academically. By the end of the course, students will walk away with practical knowledge and greater confidence in their financial choices.
Course Features:
- Financial Literacy is a one-week course designed to introduce middle school students to the basics of personal finance in a fun, approachable way. The course includes the following features to encourage understanding through engaging and interactive learning:
- Lessons covering essential financial topics such as saving, spending, budgeting, and banking
- Interactive activities including icebreakers, games, and roleplaying real-world scenarios to help students apply what they learn
- Skill-building exercises to strengthen critical thinking, communication, and real-life decision-making
- A final project where students demonstrate their understanding by creating a personal budget or solving a financial challenge.
