Course Overview

Course Description:
Introduction to Biology & Health is a free course that focuses on real-world aspects of the subject. It touches on the different relationships between us and our environment and expands on materials taught in school settings. Through this detailed course, students will be able to understand the different functions of the cells in our bodies and functions of plant cells and the significance of our impact– both positives and negatives – in the ecosystem. Then they will be able to apply this knowledge to help protect our environment by the end of the course.

Course Features:
The Biology & Health Bloomers curriculum was inspired by NGSS Middle School Biology Standards. Our course will include:

In-depth presentations about how cells in organisms grow and how matter and energy behave them, as well as real world examples about the way organisms interact in ecosystems.
A set of various fun activities and quizzes to help strengthen the students’ understanding of the units.
A culminating final project where students will encapsulate their understanding of the lessons by submitting an article connecting the material covered during lessons, and then elaborating on a real-world issue linked to this course and providing a viable solution they as students can begin to work on.
Relations of health to science and real world impacts of Biological phenomena onto the human system.
