Course Description:
The Business Bloomers Introduction to Investing is a free introductory course about elements of investing and basic analytical techniques. Through this detailed course spanning 5 weeks of content and review, students will be allowed to traverse the fascinating world of finance as they interact with high school students who have received national recognition in business competitions and have experience in managing real money.
By the end of this course, students will be able to gain a fundamental understanding of basic finance topics, as well as “bloom” in crucial soft and hard skills.
Course Features:
The Business Bloomers curriculum was inspired by the California CTE (Career Technical Education) Principles of Business course. Our course will include the following features to promote understanding of the different aspects of investing, as well as plenty of engaging and interactive activities to solidify the lessons learned.
- A series of discussions on fundamental business topics and aspects of finance, mainly covering the stock market and methods to analyze companies.
- A set of various activities such as a stock market simulation, public speaking exercises, company analysis, and more as a supplement to the lessons.
- A culminating final project where students will encapsulate their understanding of the lessons by creating and presenting an investment thesis of a company of their choosing.
- An opportunity to network with club leadership from Homestead High School’s largest financial literacy organization and Homestead Future Business Leaders of America, the nation’s most successful FBLA chapter.
Course Calendar:
All classes will be held on Sundays for 5 weeks from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM PST. (March 5th to April 2nd)
