Course Description:

The Bloom Introduction to Python Programming is a free beginner-level course designed to introduce students to the exciting world of coding through one of the most widely used languages in the world—Python. Across 4 weeks of interactive instruction, hands-on activities, and project-based learning, students will develop a foundational understanding of programming concepts, problem-solving strategies, and real-world applications of code. This course is taught by experienced high school programmers and mentors with recognition in national computing competitions and coding programs. By the end of the course, students will not only have written their first full programs but will also gain the confidence and curiosity to continue learning beyond the course.

Course Features:

  • The Bloom curriculum is in line with introductory programming principles aligned with AP Computer Science Principles and national K–12 computer science frameworks. Our course includes:
  • Fundamental Python topics, such as variables, conditionals, loops, functions, and lists.
  • Engaging mini-activities and games, including code challenges, debugging relays, and pair programming
  • A culminating project, where students will design and code a personalized program using what they’ve learned—such as a quiz app, calculator, or mini-game.
  • Mentorship and peer learning, supported by student instructors and breakout groups. No prior coding experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to try!
