Course Description:
Bloom Institute’s Introduction to Python course provides a dynamic and comprehensive learning experience for aspiring programmers seeking to learn their first programming language. Spanning four weeks of engaging content, participants will embark on a learning experience covering the fundamentals of Python, gain exceptional debugging skills, and round off the class with developing a custom text-based game to show off to friends or family. Taught by dedicated teachers and using an established curriculum, we hope that you’ll join us on this enriching journey to lay the groundwork not only for majoring in Computer Science, but also to grow a lifelong love of programming.
Course Features:
The Python Bloomers curriculum was inspired by De Anza’s Intro Programming in Python course with additional course materials adapted from w3schools.com. Our course will include the following features to promote understanding of the Python language and of programming as a whole, as well as plenty of engaging and interactive activities to solidify the lessons learned.
Installation and use of Thonny, a Python IDE perfect for beginners looking to learn.
A series of discussions on fundamental coding practices and aspects of Python specifically, mainly covering the syntax of the language.
A series of various coding activities covering a variety of topics, like strings, loops, functions, and more.
A chance to learn and practice exceptional debugging skills, crucial for understanding how to fix programs when problems may arise
A culminating final project where students will encapsulate their understanding of the lessons by creating and presenting a small, text-based game of their choice.
